The baoxiang flower — a composite of lotus, peony and pomegranate — was the signature ornament of the Tang dynasty, a symbol of fulfilment. This jacquard is woven in lilac, lake blue and pale gold, with a soft silk sheen under light.
The cut was placed so that one complete medallion sits at the very centre of the bag. There was only enough fabric for this one.
